Elvis has entered the building!

It’s not everyday Elvis opens for your show! Well, this happened last week at a show for The Red Hat Society. Good old Elvis ( Skeet Deschaine ) performed before me and had all the ladies dancing. He did a great job and brought a smile to everyone’s face, including mine!

When it came to my show, I was unsure how things were going to go but they went better than I could have imagined! During one trick, I borrowed a $20.00 bill from a lady, it was then placed into a bag and then vanished right in her own hands! When she saw it had vanished, she yelled the “F bomb”! It was loud enough for the front of the audience to hear it. In fact, my microphone picked it up too and projected it to the audience of over 350! It went from Red Hat Ladies to Red Face Ladies! The laughter didn’t stop for ages! It’s moments like this that make me LOVE my job. It really is a new show every time, I perform. Thanks Danielle, for heating things up in my show and thank goodness there were no small kids there! That is not a magic word I use in my show!

The show ended with a straitjacket escape which was followed by a standing ovation from the audience. Thank you so much Red Hat Society for making this show such a memorable one for me! Also, thanks to the Port Dover Lioness for taking the time to organize and pull off this wonderful event!

Out of the old, into the new!

It’s spring and that means it’s time for spring cleaning! This year was more crazy than usually! First, we had to move my workshop to another location and after over a year of being in one place I collected A LOT of stuff!

Secondly, we had to move ALL of our illusions into a bigger storage unit because our show has out grown its current home. Did I mention we have a lot of magic? Check out this old picture below of some of my magic cases!

During my workshop move, it felt like an episode of Hoarders! The first step is admitting you have a problem! I will admit I love keeping boxes, pieces of wood and other random things I might use! Luckily, with my families help we cut back on quite a bit, so much that I had
to go to the dump!

Good bye storage unit #07 hello new home!

Government Approved!

My jaw hit the floor and the only word out of my mouth was “WOW ! ” when I received the following letter from local Member of Parliament Diane Finley!

In the letter, she takes the time to congratulate me on making into the TOP 21 in Toronto on Canada’s Got Talent and for breaking the Guinness World Record! Also on the behalf of the Government of Canada and the rest of Haldimand-Norfolk, congratulates me for my dedication to the art of illusion!

All I can say is thank you! It is support like this that pushes me forward and I have only ever been honoured to be a part of something so big and exciting! It means the world to have all this support behind me so thank you and thank you again!

We mustn’t forget the girl that was with me the entire journey, the lovely and very talented Kelly Defilla! You can’t put a straitjacket on by yourself! She is just not an assistant but a close friend and I couldn’t imagine standing on that stage with anyone else beside me! So thank you Kelly for being there with me!

Thank you to everyone once again. There is so much more to come!

Magical March!

WOW! MARCH WAS AMAZING!

I just had the best March ever! First off, this March Break I had the great opportunity to perform at all of the Norfolk County Public Libraries. The best thing for families was it didn’t cost anything! Free for anyone to attend! Neither the libraries or I expected the response we got. Most of their activites draw in 20-30 people, the first day we had 350 people! By the end of the week, we had just over 1000 people attend the magic shows!

Thank you so much for everyone who came out to see the shows and a BIG thanks to The Norfolk County Libraries for inviting me. Also can’t forget to mention the fantastic people at SNAP & CD 98.9 who helped advertise this event!

The Sunday night, just after we finished our week of library shows, I appeared on Canada’s Got Talent! Check out my full audition below:

The experience of being on the show was amazing but even more amazing was the support I gained from my community after my appearance. Thank you to everyone for their kind words and support during my time on the show.

March was amazing! Here is to April being amazing as well!

Happy New Year & Straitjacket video!

Happy new year! What an exciting past few months it has been. From performing, to talking, to filming tv shows and creating new magic, I have been going non stop! 2012 is already started off with a bang! I can’t share the big news yet but there is BIG news coming.

I have been working on new material non stop! There will be some great new illusions added to my show this year! Along with illusions we have been working on bigger and better straitjacket escapes!

Speaking of straitjacket escapes here is the official Guinness World Records video on my record setting, straitjacket escape! Make sure to watch, share and like the video please!

That’s all for right now! I promise, I will be blogging more often!

One Month Later…

GWR FallsWOW! What an adventure I have been on in the last month. One month ago,
I was awarded by Guinness World Records for fastest escape from a
straitjacket and chains while in suspension. The response from
everyone has been amazing. I’ve got emails and messages from around
the world! Not to mention even appeared on the nightly news in
 Ireland!

During this past month, I have made appearances across southern
Ontario! I’ve also been working on new magic non-stop! Also working on
other big projects I can’t discuss right now but they are really BIG!

Coming up this month I will actually be performing in my hometown of
Port Dover, at Lighthouse Festival Theatre! This is a fundraiser for
Theatre Norfolk’s mentoring program. This is a program where theatre
professionals work with community theatre members to put on a
professional play. It’s a really great program for anyone interested
in theatre.

The show is being sponsored by the wonderful people at
propertyguys.com Norfolk-Haldimand. They were kind enough to sponsor my Guinness World
Record™ attempt and they are back once again helping both Theatre
Norfolk and myself for this show. To help give back to
propertyguys.com I went to their big conference in Niagara Falls and
took the time to cut the CEO of propertyguys.com in HALF! It was a
blast that weekend! Thank you so much propertyguys.com Norfolk-Haldimand, for everything
you have done for me!

So there is a little catch up on what I have been doing and will be
 doing. Lots more to come!

Until Later,

Lucas

What a Day!

Well its happened! All this build up came to a day that I will never
forget. Saturday was my official Guinness World Record attempts and
they couldn’t have gone better!

At 5:15 it was my first attempt at breaking the 54.24 seconds record. I did
it in just 39 seconds. At 6:00, I tried again and with more focus and
wiggling I was able to cut it down to 29 seconds. Then came the moment
everyone was waiting for, it was minutes before Country Star George
Canyon took the stage. My final attempt in front of over 3000 people!
It was damp and colder than earlier in the day but with the cheering
from everyone I was able to pull off my final time of 19.2 seconds!
Philip Robertson from Guinness World Records was there to check
everything was correct and hand me the famous certificate. He
was amazed by what he saw. Also my double straitjacket escape went
amazing as well. My final time was 20.5 seconds! It is currently being
reviewed by Guinness World Records .

The support on Saturday was overwhelming! Thank you to everyone that
came out in support of the event! I was so happy to see so many
people! I have also have to thank my father & brother in law who were
there putting me in the straitjacket for each attempt, and The Norfolk
County Fair and Horse Show for all their hard work. A big thanks to
The Property Guys for sponsoring the event and helping make my dream
come true. Also a thanks to an old college friend Amelia who came down
for this event and ended up being so helpful and of course all my
family, friends and community for their cheers and encouragement!

So once again thank you to everyone! I have more to share about the
event! Make sure to check back soon!

Until Later,

Lucas
