Happy New Year & Straitjacket video!

Happy new year! What an exciting past few months it has been. From performing, to talking, to filming tv shows and creating new magic, I have been going non stop! 2012 is already started off with a bang! I can’t share the big news yet but there is BIG news coming.

I have been working on new material non stop! There will be some great new illusions added to my show this year! Along with illusions we have been working on bigger and better straitjacket escapes!

Speaking of straitjacket escapes here is the official Guinness World Records video on my record setting, straitjacket escape! Make sure to watch, share and like the video please!

That’s all for right now! I promise, I will be blogging more often!

One Month Later…

GWR FallsWOW! What an adventure I have been on in the last month. One month ago,
I was awarded by Guinness World Records for fastest escape from a
straitjacket and chains while in suspension. The response from
everyone has been amazing. I’ve got emails and messages from around
the world! Not to mention even appeared on the nightly news in
 Ireland!

During this past month, I have made appearances across southern
Ontario! I’ve also been working on new magic non-stop! Also working on
other big projects I can’t discuss right now but they are really BIG!

Coming up this month I will actually be performing in my hometown of
Port Dover, at Lighthouse Festival Theatre! This is a fundraiser for
Theatre Norfolk’s mentoring program. This is a program where theatre
professionals work with community theatre members to put on a
professional play. It’s a really great program for anyone interested
in theatre.

The show is being sponsored by the wonderful people at
propertyguys.com Norfolk-Haldimand. They were kind enough to sponsor my Guinness World
Record™ attempt and they are back once again helping both Theatre
Norfolk and myself for this show. To help give back to
propertyguys.com I went to their big conference in Niagara Falls and
took the time to cut the CEO of propertyguys.com in HALF! It was a
blast that weekend! Thank you so much propertyguys.com Norfolk-Haldimand, for everything
you have done for me!

So there is a little catch up on what I have been doing and will be
 doing. Lots more to come!

Until Later,

Lucas

What a Day!

Well its happened! All this build up came to a day that I will never
forget. Saturday was my official Guinness World Record attempts and
they couldn’t have gone better!

At 5:15 it was my first attempt at breaking the 54.24 seconds record. I did
it in just 39 seconds. At 6:00, I tried again and with more focus and
wiggling I was able to cut it down to 29 seconds. Then came the moment
everyone was waiting for, it was minutes before Country Star George
Canyon took the stage. My final attempt in front of over 3000 people!
It was damp and colder than earlier in the day but with the cheering
from everyone I was able to pull off my final time of 19.2 seconds!
Philip Robertson from Guinness World Records was there to check
everything was correct and hand me the famous certificate. He
was amazed by what he saw. Also my double straitjacket escape went
amazing as well. My final time was 20.5 seconds! It is currently being
reviewed by Guinness World Records .

The support on Saturday was overwhelming! Thank you to everyone that
came out in support of the event! I was so happy to see so many
people! I have also have to thank my father & brother in law who were
there putting me in the straitjacket for each attempt, and The Norfolk
County Fair and Horse Show for all their hard work. A big thanks to
The Property Guys for sponsoring the event and helping make my dream
come true. Also a thanks to an old college friend Amelia who came down
for this event and ended up being so helpful and of course all my
family, friends and community for their cheers and encouragement!

So once again thank you to everyone! I have more to share about the
event! Make sure to check back soon!

Until Later,

Lucas

Simcoe Reformer Coverage

Had a chance to talk with Daniel Pearce of the Simcoe Reformer on

He also put together a video on The Norfolk County Fair and Horse
Show, featuring me at the end of it.

Check it out here: http://www.simcoereformer.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3329245

Thanks Daniel!

OPENING FAIR DAY!

Well today is the big day! The Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show
opened today! Every year starts with a big battle between all the
local high schools. This year to make things interesting I predicted
who I thought the overall winner was going to be. It was sealed and
locked inside a box and was in full view the whole time. Moments
before the winner was announced, the box was brought down and opened!

Now, I went to high school in this area. I went to Holy Trinity (HT)
and there was a lot of pressure from them wanting the prediction to say
HT. But, sadly for them, they didn’t pull through in all the competitions
and placed third. Just before they announced the winner, I opened my
prediction that read “DELHI”. A second later, they said the winner is
DELHI! The crowd went wild!

It was a really fun morning and all the schools put in an amazing
effort. Good work to everyone. I’m just excited because this means the
fair is open! Time for rides, games, fair food and oh yea some world
record thing!

Until Later,

Lucas

OPENING DAY! & My Dad’s Birthday!

So it’s the big opening day at the fair! But before all that I wanted to give a GIANT shout out to my dad. He has been here throughout this whole process. From putting me in the straitjacket, to timing me getting out of the straitjacket! Just wanted to say thanks for being awesome! I couldn’t have done this without you….like really, I can’t physically put the jacket on by myself! Haha

Happy Birthday DAD!

Ps. The picture is of myself, my dad and David Copperfield. My 2 favorite guys!

Opening Day TOMORROW!

The Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show opens tomorrow and although my Guinness World Record attempt isn’t until Saturday, tomorrow is still a big day for me!

Every year all the local high school take part in a big competition to see which can show more spirit and talent then the others. 1000’s of high school students come every year to cheer on their friends. Recently, I made a prediction of what school will place 1st in the competition. I have sealed and locked it into a box. It will be on full display all morning as the different events take place. No one will come close to it or move it from view the entire time. At the end of the events, the box will be opened and my prediction will be revealed at the same time as everyone finds out the winner.

Be there tomorrow to see if I am right or wrong. Also don’t forget this Saturday October the 8th is my big Guinness World Record attempt at the fair. Details below.

The Hardest Part of a Straitjacket Escape.

One would think the hardest part of straitjacket escape would be the
getting out part and yes at first that was really hard and remains
hard. It takes focus, hard work and a little luck to get out. So what
is the hardest part of the escape? It’s being in the straitjacket!

The old saying, “I can’t come to the phone right now, I’m all tied up !”
has been given a whole new meaning around here. Often times, I will put
on the straitjacket and then my phone will start to go off. This means
I have 30 seconds to get out before it goes to voice mail! The phone
never goes off when I am out of the jacket.

Another thing, as most of you have noticed I have long hair. I love my
hair however as any one with long hair will tell you when it gets in
your face or in your mouth you need to get it out right away! Again,
once you are in a straitjacket, there is no moving your hair or worse,
itching that itch that you have that’s driving you crazy! Of course
you don’t become itchy until you are in the straitjacket.

Although these things may bug me when I am in the straitjacket, it
also pushes me to get out faster, so I can get that call, or itch that
itch. So when you see me trying my fastest to get out of the
straitjacket, it’s not just for the record…I bet I have an itch
somewhere.

Until Later,

Lucas

The Grand Opening

One week today the Norfolk County Fair will open, which means my
Official Guinness World Record attempt will only be days away. It
still doesn’t seem like this could all be for real. I use to read the Guinness Book of World Records
when I was a kid and now I will be in that very book.

With the date getting closer and closer I find myself wearing a
straitjacket everyday, whether standing or upside down, you can see me wearing one most of the day. The training has been long and hard. There were days where I
would escape from the straitjacket 15-20 times and others days when I
couldn’t move because of the pain in my body. (I must admit doing sit
ups while upside down is quite the work out! Haha!) It’s crazy to wake
up in the morning and break a world record with no one watching and to
think one day there will be over 20,000 people at once watching.
That will be the largest crowd I’ve ever performed in front of and on
top of that not only am I performing but also trying to set a Guinness
World Record! No pressure huh?

Although it has been hard I am filled with excitement and honor
knowing that I am being given the chance of a lifetime. Thank you
Norfolk County Fair and I will see you in a week!

Until Later,

Lucas
